Crowns, ceramics & Bridges
A crown may be suggested if a tooth has had Root Canal Treatment, has a crack or if tooth decay develops beneath an already very large filling. Think of it like a tooth coloured, ceramic 'helmet' that slides over the prepared tooth to protect the remaining segment underneath.
What to expect
The process usually involves two appointments; one to prepare the tooth, and the second to cement the final crown in.

Bridges
A dental bridge is a ceramic structure, spanning the gap left by a missing or extracted tooth. It is a sensible option to replace a missing tooth when the two teeth on either side of the gap are already heavily restored, at risk of fracture and requiring a crown. Care is taken to ensure the patient has the ability to clean easily beneath the ceramic bridge such that tooth decay does not develop in the future.
