A dental bridge is a ceramic structure, spanning the gap left by a missing or extracted tooth. It is a sensible option to replace a missing tooth when the two teeth on either side of the gap are already heavily restored, at risk of fracture and requiring a crown. Care is taken to ensure the patient has the ability to clean easily beneath the ceramic bridge such that tooth decay does not develop in the future. 

What to expect

The procedure usually takes 2 appointments: the first to prepare the teeth on either side of the space and ensure the shape is correct, and the second to cement the custom designed ceramic into place.
